Our mission is to support female and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) youth to run for political and other leadership positions by providing resources, community connections and mentoring opportunities.

Applications for the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Women in Local Government scholarships are now open!

Canadian Women in Municipal Government Scholarship

The scholarship is open to female students enrolled in any year of study in secondary school and who are contributing to their school's leadership team or student council. There are five awards of $1000, each, with one award to be presented in each of the five regions of Canada (British Columbia, The Prairies and Territories, Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada).

Mayor Andrée P. Boucher Memorial Scholarship

FCM awards the Mayor Andrée Boucher Memorial Scholarship to two female college or university students deemed to have submitted the best research paper on a topic related to women in politics. The scholarship is named in honour of the late mayor of Quebec City. 

FCM awards two scholarships of $4,500: one scholarship to a student at the college /university undergraduate level, and one scholarship at the university graduate level.

Claiming Spaces is a partnership program with the University of Northern British Columbia, the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, and the City of Prince George
